Food (Popiah)

Hi, here comes Motionz Dotz again! Today, I am going to introduce everyone a chinese delicacy, called 'Popiah'. Do any people know what is 'popiah'? Or even wonder where 'popiah' is originated? Well, let me tell you. It is a thin paper-like crepe or pancake wrapper stuffed with a filling made of cooked vegetables and meats. The popiah is originated in the Fujian province. It is derived from the spring roll which was consumed when there was plentiful of vegetables during spring. The Chinese diaspora has spawned variants of the roll throughout Asia, mixing ingredients from the local culture resulting in such likes as the Nonya version of the popiah. Well, this is referred from http://infopedia.nl.sg/articles/SIP_891_2005-01-10.html. Popiah is very popular nowadays. You can easily find it in any hawker centres in Singapore. Some even take it as meals or snacks. You can also make it yourself by buying the Popiah's skin and other ingredients in most of the supermarket. The reason why I like Popiah is that the sweet sauce which is added to the Popiah, is so sweet that it is very addictive. The sweet sauce is blended skilfully into the cooked meats and vegetables, enhancing the favour of the Popiah. And there are also peanuts scattered on the cooked filling. Both the sweet sauce and peanuts are such a perfect match that one is easily tempted to eat at the first sight of the popiah. Can you imagine the luxury that one gets when the sauces, that made up of the peanuts and sweet sauces, spill on one's face when he is consuming it? It's wonderful! I discovered this food when I was about eight years old, my father brought us to a coffee shop - named (Jin shan ling). There, I noticed an old lady making some sorts of pancake that seem tasty, well I decided to give it a try and buy it. And that's how I came to know 'Popiah'. So now it's your turn to taste it!
