Foodz! (Rice Dumpling)

Hungry for foods, let Motionz Dotz introduces you another mouthwatering Peranakan delicacy, called rice dumpling. Okay, since it sounds unfamiliar to the world, I believe that there is a need to tell everybody the origins of Rice Dumpling. It is derived from a kampong village in Katong, where Singaporeans of Peranakan heritage gathered, though Chinese Rice Dumpling is originally created to honor an honorable in China's history - the divine Qu Yuan (340-278 B.C.) - the famous pioneer poet of ancient China. Mr. Lim Cheng Hwee's grandmother learnt the recipe from her parankan neighbours. She imparted her recipe to her grandson, Mr Lim. Mr Lim then established a company that sells Rice Dumpling. Mr. Lim began innovatively improving the dumpling manufacturing process in this traditional, labor-intensive industry turning his business into a modern one. He created machines to suit his needs. There are two main favours of Rice Dumpling - Nyonya Rice Dumpling and Salted Rice Dumpling. The Nyonya Rice Dumpling, which is wrapped with pandan leaves, is made from white glutinous rice and a filling of fine pork cubes fried with coriander powder. While the salted Rice Dumpling, which is wrapped with bamboo leaves, is made from fried glutinous rice and a filling of chestnut, mushroom and pork cubes marinated with five spices. You might be astounded to find that the physical appearance of the rice dumpling looks unappetizing but there will be a drastic impression from bad to good when you taste it. Wow, imagine the smoke overcoming you when you are eating, the favours lingering around your nose and the rice dumbling is of bite-size. There is only one word to substitute all - Fastastic! My family often goes to supermarket, like 'Carrefour', to buy Rice Dumplings as they just simply taste wonderful. So look out for and taste this remarkable delicacy from now on!
